CureCovid20 Challenge: Song Lyrics
As you can read from the title, I hope that we can all overcome this Covid-19 period by this year, 2020, hence the name CureCovid20. Whether you are fighting Covid-19, treating Covid-19 patients, a frontliner, in quarantine, in lockdown, away from your homes or simply need encouragement during these Covid-19 times, here are some selected lyrics or songs for you to listen to! To participate in this CureCovid20 Challenge, you need to select song lyrics and find some way to relate them to these Covid-19 times. The song lyrics should preferably be motivational. You can show the connection to Covid-19 times by making words bold. For example, if you want to associate lyrics with social distancing and isolation, be sure to bold the related words. The minimum number of songs is 3. Feel free to add a little bit of explanation, in case nobody gets it! (Note: Scroll to the bottom of the page to play the songs!)
Fight Song by Rachel Platten
This is my fight song
Take back my life song
Prove I’m alright song
My power’s turned on
Starting right now I’ll be strong
I’ll play my fight song
And I don’t really care if nobody else believes
‘Cause I’ve still got a lot of fight left in me
I’m Still Standing by Elton John
Don’t you know I’m still standing better than I ever did
Looking like a true survivor, feeling like a little kid
I’m still standing after all this time
Picking up the pieces of my life without you on my mind
Coming Home by Dirty Money feat. Skylar Grey
I’m coming home
I’m coming home
Tell the world I’m coming home
Let the rain wash away all the pain of yesterday
I know my kingdom awaits and they’ve forgiven my mistakes
I’m coming home, I’m coming home
Tell the world that I’m coming
People Like Us By Kelly Clarkson
We come into this world unknown
But know that we are not alone
They try and knock us down
But change is coming, it’s our time now
Hey… everybody loses it
Everybody wants to throw it all away sometimes
And hey… yeah I know what you’re going through
Don’t let it get the best of you, you’ll make it out alive
Oh
People like us, we’ve gotta stick together
Keep your head up, nothing lasts forever
Here’s to the damned, to the lost and forgotten
It’s hard to get high when you’re living on the bottom
Keep Your Head Up By Andy Grammer
I’ve been waiting on a sunset,
Bills on my mindset
I can’t deny they’re getting high
Higher than my income, income’s bread crumbs
I’ve been trying to survive
The glow that sun gets right around sunset helps me to realize
This is just a journey
Drop your worries, you are gonna turn out fine
Oh…
You turn out fine
Fine, oh, you turn out fine…
But, you gotta keep your head up
Oh oh
And you can let your hair down
Eh eh
You gotta keep your head up
Oh oh
And you can let your hair down
Eh eh
I know it’s hard, know it’s hard to remember sometimes
But, you gotta keep your head up
Oh oh
And you can let your hair down
Eh eh eh eh eh
Remedy (I Won’t Worry) By Jason Mraz
Well, I saw fireworks from the freeway
And behind closed eyes, I cannot make them go away
‘Cause you were born on the fourth of July, freedom ring
Well, something on the surface, it stings
I said, something on the surface, well, it kinda makes me nervous who says that you deserve this?
And what kind of god would serve this?
We will cure this dirty old disease
Well, if you’ve gots the poison, I’ve gots the remedy
The remedy is the experience
This is a dangerous liaison
I says, the comedy is that it’s serious
Which is a strange enough new play on words
I say the tragedy is how you’re gonna spend
The rest of your nights with the light on
So shine the light on all of your friends
When it all amounts to nothing in the end
I, I won’t worry my life away
Hey, oh, oh
I, I won’t worry my life away
Hey, oh, oh
Don’t Dream It’s Over by Crowded House
There is freedom within, there is freedom without
Try to catch the deluge in a paper cup
There’s a battle ahead, many battles are lost
But you’ll never see the end of the road
While you’re traveling with me
Hey now, hey now
Don’t dream it’s over
Hey now, hey now
When the world comes in
They come, they come
To build a wall between us
We know they won’t win
We Are The World by U.S.A For Africa
We are the world
We are the children
We are the ones who make a brighter day, so let’s start giving
There’s a choice we’re making
We’re saving our own lives
It’s true we’ll make a better day, just you and me
You Are Not Alone By Michael Jackson
You are not alone
I am here with you
Though you’re far away
I am here to stay
For you are not alone
I am here with you
Though we’re far apart
You’re always in my heart
Bigger Than My Body By John Mayer
Someday I’ll fly
Someday I’ll soar
Someday I’ll be
So damn much more
‘Cause I’m bigger than my body
Gives me credit for
Fireworks By Katy Perry
Do you ever feel like a plastic bag
Drifting thought the wind
Wanting to start again
Do you ever feel, feel so paper thin
Like a house of cards
One blow from caving in
Do you ever feel already buried deep
Six feet under scream
But no one seems to hear a thing
Do you know that there’s still a chance for you
‘Cause there’s a spark in you
You just gotta ignite the light
And let it shine
Just own the night
Like the Fourth of July
‘Cause baby you’re a firework
Come on show ’em what your worth
Make ’em go “Oh, oh, oh!”
As you shoot across the sky-y-y
Baby you’re a firework
Come on let your colors burst
Make ’em go “Oh, oh, oh!”
You’re gonna leave ’em fallin’ down down down
